Staff from LCVI were here this morning to speak to our students about what preparing for high school means and what the different stream options are at LCVI and how they affect future opportunities. Reminder that on Thursday, January 19 there is an information night for parents and guardians about course selections and the different streams available. On January 25 staff from LCVI will be back to Central to enrol students in their classes. (More on that below.)
All grade 8 students have received a package containing tips for success, information about exciting opportunities such as SPAR-tech and most importantly the packages contain course selection catalogs and registration forms. There is a white rough copy and a green good copy. The green one MUST be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Central to register for courses.
It is recommended that you speak to your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher for input regarding the stream in which your child(ren) will experience the most success for their future goals. The choice is ultimately up to the parent/guardian but the (homeroom) teachers here can help you make the choice that will best fit your child(ren).
When selecting courses, read the course description carefully and double check the course code to ensure that you’ve chosen the correct stream. Ensure you’ve selected the correct number of compulsory credits and elective credits.
January 25th LCVI is returning to Central to input course selections. Students MUST have parent signatures on their green course selections sheets before this date. They will NOT be able to enroll without parental permission.
If you have any questions, no matter how big or small, call Central or LCVI. This is a big transition and we are happy to help make it as smooth as possible for your family.
